Kindergarten Kids: Week 6
Grade: entering Kindergarten
Young scientists entering Kindergarten in the fall will love exploring nature and science at APEC! Each weekly program will focus on a different topic and have live animal guests. Activities will include children’s literature, hands-on activities, and development of math skills like sorting, comparing, and graphing. Children should dress for a daily nature walk and bring a labeled water bottle (reusable preferred). Participants should have sunscreen and bug repellant applied prior to entering the Center. Masks are recommended for the indoor portion of the program. Limited to 10 participants.
Week 1 July 11 – July 15 Animal Senses
Learn how animals use their senses to survive in the wild.
Week 2 July 18 – July 22 Animal Classification
Explore and compare different vertebrate groups including
mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
Week 3 July 25 – July 29 Weights and Measures
A variety of STEM challenges will develop understanding
about length, size, speed, and more.
Week 4 Aug. 1 – Aug. 5 Ornithology
Channel your inner bird watcher as we explore feathers,
beaks, eggs, and nests while learning about different bird
species.
Week 5 Aug. 8 – Aug. 12 Colors in Nature
Nature is filled with a rainbow of colors providing
camouflage, serving as warning colors, and beautifying our
world.
Week 6 Aug. 15 – Aug. 19 Animals and Habitats Around the World
Discover the amazing diversity of animals and compare the
different homes in which they live.
Kindergarten Kids Program Fees and Policy
- $225 per week, per child
- $25 discount per week for early bird registrations (up to and including March 31st, 2022)
- $20 discount per week if registering for all six weeks (call for discount code)
- $10 discount per week if registering for three or more weeks (call for discount code)
