Spring Bird Walk for Beginners
Sunday, May 2 9:30 am – noon
Walk through Alley Pond Park’s trails, including Little Alley Pond and the wooded area containing vernal ponds, accompanied by Nancy and Lou Tognan of Queens County Bird Club. Try to spot our various species of birds – both the year-round residents, the warblers migrating through, and those arriving to nest here. Listen for their songs. Learn to use binoculars and a field guide. Wear hiking shoes, sneakers, or other closed-toe shoes that you won’t mind getting muddy. Bring binoculars if you have them. Please arrive early for a binoculars lesson so that we may begin the walk promptly. Meet walk leaders in front of the APEC temporary building in the 76th Ave parking lot east of Springfield Blvd. Although this walk is free, pre-registration is required as spots are limited. This walk will cover some rough terrain and is not suitable for persons with limited mobility. Masks must be worn during this program. Limited to 12 participants. You will receive Getting Started in Birding information upon registration.
Ages: Adults and children ages 8 and up (children must be accompanied by adult)
FREE (pre-registration required)
