Seasonal Adaptations: How Do Animals Prepare for Winter?

Adults: Elementary School Teachers and Homeschool Parents

How do animals adapt to the cold temperatures and survive in the winter?  Learn about local critters that migrate and hibernate during the winter months.  Discover how rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, and many birds stay active year-round, using a combination of physical and physiological adaptations.  Live animal demonstrations and a nature walk through APEC’s trails will provide participants with a first-hand discovery of the living world.  Program aligned with Common Core Learning Standards in Science.

Light breakfast of coffee, juice, and muffins will be provided.
