Wild Edible Plant Walk
Thursday, June 16th, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Did you know that ragweed is delicious? Have you smelled fresh spicebush? On a midsummer evening's stroll, come and meet your botanical neighbors growing in Alley Pond Park. Wild foods author Marie Viljoen will introduce you to the diverse community of edible plants growing in plain sight in the heart of Queens. Marie's approach of conservation foraging focuses on collecting invasive plants, as well as learning more about the native Northeastern foods that we could be using every day in our kitchens and growing in our community gardens. The walk will end with a shared, wild-inspired snack of deviled eggs and focaccia featuring all-organic, seasonal ingredients. You can find Marie on Instagram @66squarefeet.
